The Citizen Watch company was founded in 1918 in Tokyo, Japan under the name Shokosha Watch Research Institute.

In 1930, the company was renamed Citizen Watch Company and has operated under this name ever since. Citizen Watch Company is one of the world’s largest manufacturer of watches.

Citizen have been the official time keeper of the U.S. Open tournament since 1993.
